THEME OF 2021 WORLD HEALTH DAY          :       BUILDING A FAIRER, HEALTHIER WORLD

The strategic importance of good health is celebrated each year on this day on 7th April. On this very day Physical, Mental, Emotional and social well being of all is promoted and celebrated all over the world.

World Health Organization (WHO), an agency of the United Nations, spearheads all the programmes and policies related to health needs of every one. COVID – 19 stressed upon the importance that some constellation of people live healthier lives and have easier access to health services than others because of the prevailing conditions in which they live. It has hit hard all countries, but its impact has been harshest on those communities which were already vulnerable, less access to quality health care services.

It has highlighted that sanitary & affordable homes with running water, clean energy & enough space are form of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and frontline defence against health impacts of pandemics.

We explore the role that affordable, climate-smart and commercially viable homes can help in improving the health outcomes of people living on low incomes. A post-pandemic response that embraces affordable housing will enable billions of people to escape the poverty cycle. This is truly an opportunity to build back better.

It is an urge to ensure that everyone has secure and healthy environment that enable them to live healthy, wealthy and prosperous life and everyone has access to quality health services everywhere without risk of financial hardship. Efforts be made to monitor progress to reduce health inequalities locally, regionally and nationally.

In the line of command of WHO, we are committed to ensure that everyone, everywhere realize their dream of achieving and maintaining good health. All of us are responsible and accountable to take action which is appropriate to patients’ care needs and Health Service Organization.

Today, WHO makes a clarion call to all of us to join a new campaign to build bridges to ensure a fairer, healthier world which shall kickstart economies & act as engine of job creation for better standards of living.

Everyone can take a hand in improving the overall health of the world, just by starting with yourself, your family, and your community.
